What did you use as a rain screen behind the cedar shake siding? I'm having difficulty sourcing a good rain screen for shakes and/or vertical wood siding.
Yes,Western Red Cedar, A grade (clear).
Was this Western Red Cedar? There are few "knots" in the wood. I assume since you'r eon the West coast, this is WRC from the pacific NW?
The siding is T&G cedar, not Hardi-Plank. Someone made
what color is the cedar, what stain was used? Did anyone find out? Thanks
Was the cedar milled to create some sort of locking system between boards? How was it installed and/or sealed to avoid water intrusion? This is a really great look!
It's cedar. There's no manufacturer, just

I'm re-siding our home with clear heart cedar and having a hard time finding a finish that is lasting.
Mixing Clear & tight knot Cedar
Love the look of the clear cedar in your pic. We are about to start putting a bunch of cedar siding
considering doing clear cedar on the front and tight knot cedar on the back to save some $$. People entering from the front would most likely not see the tight knot at the back as we don't use the back area much. Do you think this would be mistake to put 2 different types of cedar siding on the house (I'm
question. This comes up on every project that uses cedar siding. For the project above, we used Cabots semi-transparent stain (New Cedar) for the horizontal 1x8 clear cedar rainscreen siding. As with all semi-tranparent stains over cedar, regular maintenance (every couple years depending on exposure)

Nichiha. I do not see this cedar color on Nichiha's website any more.
The shingles are Nichiha fiber cement in prefinished "cedar."
For the rest, is this real cedar or Hardiboard as well?
The shake siding is a composite product made by Nichiha. The color is cedar.

dark-stained cedar wood siding in vertical tongue and groove configuration
The other side of the house, oriented to the north, is more solid. Dark-stained cedar siding in a vertical tongue and groove configuration predominates, bookending the full-height glazing in the master suite’s exercise room (foreground) and the guest suite in the distance; the entrance can be seen jutting
