what kind of wood did you use on the patio and stairs?
The wood here is Cumaru - a tropical hardwood not unlike Ipe, but more honey-toned in color. Here, we finished it with an oil finish that will be reapplied occasionally. Without oiling the wood will turn a soft silvery gray.

Beautiful house. Any tips on how to curve wood shingles that you have on the bottom of the front gable?
I love the small diamond windows on the sleeping porch. Are those the old single pane or custom-made double pane?
What do the windows look like on the inside? I am thinking of replacement windows for a traditional house. I currently have dark wood trim, double hung windows.
The radius there is large enough that no special measures were needed - Shingles damp enough to follow that curve - may have cut 2 or 3" off the top of each shingle along the bottom couple of courses.

Hello susanrobertson - Thanks for writing. The roof fascia is a custom fabricated, interlocking sheet metal panel over wood framing. We had quite a few details in order to get the message across to the builder. Sorry I don't have a recommendation

Can you tell me if it is made of wood or Aluminum? Who is the manufacturer? Did it arrive painted? Thanks.
this project are all aluminum clad wood units by Marvin. They come with the aluminum already painted. Marvin, like many manufacturers, has many standard colors, and then one can always have a custom color applied as well. The interior finish can be primed and or bare wood of various species with a sealer
Transparent Clear Stain Sealer -- The windows are Marvin -- aluminum clad - I am pretty sure it is one of their standard colors -- bronze. The painted wood door -- is a color close to the Marvin clad color -- Wineberry. Hope this helps, Cathy
