Is this hardie panel? if so how do you cover the joints?
ground cover, rocks, etc. (not grass). for area around entrance and cherry tree? only grass in the side yard? In lieu of a traditional lawn, the front is planted with an interesting mix of ground cover, hardy plants and native grasses.

Significant to the style also is a covered patio on the rear elevation, as seen in this example. This was an obvious contrast to the Prairie and Craftsman houses, which frequently had generous porches facing the street. This patio is similar to the private-facing porches or loggias of Spanish colonial

Love the corrugated metal and both covers
Regardless of the type of cover you choose, consider building the frame for your cover on an angle for extra protection. Think about the most common time of day you’ll be using the patio and work with an architect
Architect calls this house Walkabout, but it is located in suburban Austin, not Australia. The name is apt both for the building's vernacular appearance (covered in corrugated metal) and the low-maintenance landscaping, recalling a place more remote than it is. The linear house carefully locates shaded patios

I like the deck covered by an extension of the gabled roof. would like access to that area from great room via sliding wall, and then some non-covered deck area adjacent (with trellised transition area). outdoor heat source under covered portion would be nice, too!
