Here the roofing turns down and becomes the wall. A nice modern technique for cladding the parts of the house and making them look more like one "mass" or "volume" than separate components of roof and wall.

How is this pergola supported? Is it supported by the walls to the right?
concrete above the garage door... These bolts would not be necessary if the beams were part of the structure of the house... I do believe that the wall on the right is the only support other than the lag bolts. Western cedar is a very light wood and so I have no trouble believing that this sparse structure

located above casement windows on the north side. There is a second entry to the rear courtyard. The "Studio" is linked to the main house through a library hall for reference books. This link can be seen on the left side of the front entry. The link roof is copper. All in all, a wonderful space, but
"raked" out to show the stone's prominence. the stone appears to have been installed as a "dry-set" wall, using no mortar, but the stone mason's ability to select and place the stone, secured to the studio wall, with minimal exposed mortar offers the studio an old cottage feel.

Mummy likes this entryway it is enclosed, has pillars that are not overly ornate she likes the wall cutouts on top and the doors with window paneling on the sides on the sides of the entry door...gives house symmetry
