The Line House
The steep site on which this residence is located dictated the use of a retaining wall to create a level grade. This retaining wall, or “the line”, became the driving element behind the parti of the home and serves to organize the program for the clients. The rituals of daily life fall into place along

Living, & Doing. ‘Thinking’ is done in the library, the main house is for ‘living’, and ‘doing’ is in the shop. While each space is separated by walls and windows they are nonetheless connected by “the line”. Sustainability is married in equal parts to the concept of The Line House. The residence

How tall is the patio wall?
What type of stone was used in the wall? It is just beautiful... and we're looking for something similar. Thanks in advance for your help!
splashing up and damaging the doors and walls and also not having a good way of draining away from the house. Has this been an issue for you?
What is the patio wall made from?! Looks great!
My guess would be about 16 to 18" tall, because that's a comfortable sitting height. Making a wall high enough and deep enough to sit on is a good way to add extra seating to your patio.
Seat wall photo- if you decide to keep a seat wall on the grass side- maybe consider inset lights at each end.

...the concrete wall is a screen of sorts, giving privacy and insulation to the wood and copper box behind it. It also acts as a strong transition between the public and the private, a threshold between the two. Behind this concrete wall the house is quite open, with large areas of glass affording water
water views; the occasional inside face of the concrete wall reminds people of the exterior face.

What is the retaining wall material?
