Match it all! If you feel it is "too white" or "too anything" planting in front of the fence will create a buffer. Also... I do recommend putting large pots next to the pergola with an annual climbing up. Annuals take a TON of water but it literally makes the pergola come to life, changing every day. Note:
Note: because of our lot & layout we couldn't plant in the ground perennials - this would be the preference if it is an option. The upside of the pots? In the winter they get sticks and lights and it creates another vibrant yet subtle setting.

no. we have sloped metal pans in the valleys that funnel water to built-in water management in the landscaping. there is a rain garden along the front face of the overhang that absorbs
