The "hood"-type window accent you have, is it an original part of the architecture or an add-on piece.
Can you please share...What are the paint colors used here?
We could put beams over groupings of windows. This is certainly consistent with the tudor style.

I like the windows with multi-panes

wraps the house, while the stone-detailed entrance provides an intimate welcome. Notice the slight overhang of the second floor and the oriel window to the right. These well-executed details validate its style. A hip roof, another variation on the theme, covers the primary body of the house.

tribute to the surrounding forest. The interior of the structure was based on pure function. mentioned the cost can vary depending on how your roof is structured. The best thing to do would be to consult a local architect about the feasibility and cost to build a cupola into your new home. Thanks for the question. Dan
I love the look of a cupola and specifically would love one over my kitchen
careful with the construction so as to avoid leaks?
We used 1/2 inch minus Skagit Grey crushed rock for the pathways on this project. You can see more of this project on Scott Lankford's Landscape Architect's HOUZZ site. Thanks for asking ! Dan

Who is the manufacture and color? Is it weathered copper? Thank you.
I believe the pool is usable during the cold winter. If so, is it heated or is the external portion well covered during the winter? Thank you very much.
Thanks for your question manuela. Yes, the pool is heated for use in the winter. There is a hard insulated cover that lays over the external part of the pool during the winter to keep the water at an even temperature.
can you let us know who the mfg is of the teak furniture and

just like the one from lord of the rings. It's just beautiful!
HOW DID THEY BUILD THE WALLS?
to see the photos today. Lovely project! Jennifer
A good portion of the site walls were from an existing 18th century dry stacked fieldstone wall that was running through the property. Archer & Buchanan designed the new structure to run through the wall and appear as it was growing out of the earth
earth. The stone walls for the structure were built by traditional masonry construction with fieldstone veneer walls and an interior stud wall. I am sorry we do not know enough about earth bagging to give an educated opinion on its function in construction. I wish you luck on your project!
This Pennsylvania homeowner and collector of Tolkien books and artifacts worked closely with architect Peter Archer throughout the design and build of this hobbit-inspired cottage. Archer and his team constructed the house to look as if it had risen organically from the stone

I've seen that others have installed z-flashing along the horizontal seams even when using the rainscreen vertical batten system with fiber cement panels. From the pictures, it doesn't look like flashing was used. Is there anything (ie battens) behind the horizontal
behind the rain screen system? Concrete wall? Ext. gyp board with tar paper?
I love the look of cement panels but our home has a hip roof. Not sure if that will look ok. We are thinking about accenting cement board with corregated metal

about the pros and cons of using Barnwood as siding? I love the look but what to make sure it is appropriate for our region. We live in central Oklahoma and probably have more humidity and bugs than in the Western states where I see this used more often. Any info is helpful. Thanks!
treating the wood but be ready for the treatment to alter the appearance. Unfortunately with bugs and wood you just never know. If you have time you might consider building a full size mock-up of say a 4' wide and perhaps 6-8' tall with a bit of roof on top and observe it for the next 6-12 months and see
milling the edges so that it will be a tight fitting surface and with that you end up with a very low maintenance exterior given the fact that in most cases you are simply allowing the wood to carry on with its natural weathering process. Of course some bugs like wood even more than we do so IF that is
