how far does the concrete sub stair go into the ground? Also, is it a differerent color than the bicast top?
How far apart is each sub stair poured? Also, how far does the step overerhang the sub stair? Thanks
Would you be able to get access to the construction drawings for the concrete steps?
It's board-formed cast in place concrete.
The sub-stairs are a continuous monolithic pour - pretty much what you'd do for a typical concrete staircase. I don't have access right now to the construction drawings
The concrete sub-stair goes below the frost line (which is 16" in Seattle). Both the base and finish treads are natural gray concrete, but end up with slightly different color because of the differences in concrete batches & mixes and the finish of the formwork

do you know if the planters will crack due to weather with time? was color added to the concrete of planters?
also, are these concrete pavers? if not what are they? Thank you!
standard 24x24 concrete pavers. The concrete planters were not colored, but they were sacked to fill in the holes from the concrete pour. As the NW climate is moderate, there should not be excessive heating or cooling that would encourage the concrete to crack. In addition the concrete planters were designed
uniform stairs, but this needs to be taken further

concrete + wood combo is cool
love the concrete planters edging the deck
Exterior applications of reinforced concrete need not be as overwhelming as the previous examples. This mountain home uses concrete walls in a more traditional manner, as a foundation for the timber columns, walls, and roofs above. Yet where concrete foundations usually only peek above the grade surrounding
