We are going to build a home using concrete block soon in Sedona. Could you please answer these questions: 1. Is the top course a solid block or is it hollow and with the voids grouted solid? 2. Are all voids in the wall grouted
Can you recommend a drain type if you did use one? 5. Are the block constructed using a water repellent admixture? Same question pertains to the grout. 6. Did you seal the outside face with a water repellent sealer? 7. Is the block ground face or other? 8. Does the inside face of the wall get hot
1. Is the top course a solid block or is it hollow and with the voids grouted solid? YES - THE SAME FOR THE BLOCK AT THE WINDOW HEAD. I ALSO SUGGEST THAT YOU USE A METAL PARAPET CAP AS WELL. MASONRY WILL ALLOW FOR WATER/SNOW MELT INFILTRATION IF HTE CAP BLOCK IS NOT PROTECTED. 2. Are all voids

Could this color block work on a 15 foot tall wall along staircase?
Love this idea, do you think it could work on a large wall with staircase? What dimensions would blocks be within?
Overlapping shade sails cool what's stored underneath and extend the color patchwork on the interior and exterior brick walls into the sky.

Did you put a UV protective coating. My windows will be mainly north facing or east where we have a covered porch, Just wonder if it's worth the extra
did have some, just not enough to make a difference. Most dual pane windows will block about 30-40% of the UV. Low E windows have a bigger range in the 35-99% with most of them I see in the 40-50% range. Triple pane should be 50-99% but again that is a wide range depending upon the types of coatings
standard when it comes to UV protection. The manufacturer of the windows should have detailed performance numbers for the particular windows you are purchasing. Never assume unless it is in writing. I have seen far too many clients get burned because someone told them they had UV protection, and they did
