This house was built in 2008. As for era, it is a hybrid between the Louisiana plantation and Greek Revival styles of the 1800's.
Personally, I'd lean towards a standing seam metal roof - they're long lasting, weather storms well and are characteristic of New Orleans and this style home.
Acadian style home - good resources and references

Mill Valley Classic Cottage
Is there a one story plan in this same cottage style?
Do you know of a modular home building co. that builds this style house? I'm hoping to build a zero lot subdivision and need to cut costs. I think the houses would be 1800-2,300 sf. Thank you
These are seamless aluminum gutters, in an ogee style. Pretty inexpensive and standard- not what I had designed originally. (I had designed painted galvanized sheet metal fascia style gutters. The gutters would have filled in the gap to the top of the rafter tails.)

Heydt describes the new style of the home as having Craftsman shingle style and Spanish colonial influences outside, with contemporary elements inside. This home doesn't have much of a backyard, so the owners treat their front yard like a backyard. In addition to the front porch on the left, there is

Because the style became so popular, there are several variations. As with this house, many have some Spanish details,

The Craftsman style of the early 20th century sported a darker, earthier color scheme using deep browns, greens and reds. The current popularity of the style is making more homeowners consider richer color schemes.

Spanish Oaks Front
This home is beautiful. We are redoing a Spanish style home in Florida. I am looking for a white to go with the terra cotta tile roof and bronze windows. This color looks like it's perfect. Would you mind
