Can someone tell me what kind of oak tree that is and how old is it approximately?
the rocks clean and less will grow. Also be careful what mulch you get. If you are getting it from a free mulch pile you could be bringing the weeds seeds in yourself as they are not sorted out. If you get mulch from a supplier they take precautions to get rid of weed seeds.

Beh, A green roof would be amazing in a tropical setting! You would need to have a roof with a steep enough pitch to drain the water quickly and a deep, but light growing medium to support the plants
