pretty well, but the floors do need to be repainted every few years - especially in areas where there's lot of traffic. I think painted wood is tougher than a lot of people give it credit for, but you wouldn't want to leave great puddles of water on it or any bathroom floor.

OC-96 or Glow W-B-310 by Behr. Has anyone tried this color? If so, how did it work out? I'm going shopping Thursday to find the paint for my kitchen.

Wood trim, cabinets and floors complement
Cream is also a beautiful choice, but be careful not to confuse cream with yellow. Yellow is not a good choice for wood trim, in my opinion. If you have amber-toned wood trim, like Douglas fir or pine, try Gentle Cream OC-96 by Benjamin Moore or Glow W-B-310 by Behr.

How did you attach the wood to the bricks? I assume the wood was added a long time after the brick fireplace was built.

Wood mantels like this are not typically attached directly to masonry. They're attached to the Chimney Breast - which is made of framing lumber and plaster
