measure to use when designing a home. Some factors to keep in mind are minimizing air leakage, extremely efficient windows, placement of home on the site, fenestration locations, and energy efficient heating and cooling. Below is a link for more information on PassivHaus design http://www.greenbuildingadvisor
One step towards an energy efficient home is your windows & doors. All of our Renaissance solid bronze windows & doors come with triple seal glass and double weatherstripping, although we do not currently offer a thermally broken unit. With the narrow profile of our bronze, the glass and weatherstripping
weatherstripping can have a greater impact on the overall performance of the window. All windows and doors are rated with a solar heat gain co-efficient (SHGC) and U-factor, so you could check those requirements with your contractor. need to be replaced for a century or more (most roofs other than slate need to be replaced every 15-20 years). A reflective metal roof is more energy efficient than an asphalt roof and can save on the cost of air conditioning. There's also a huge aesthetic bonus: This roof will develop a beautiful patina

Glass House in the Garden
acceptable to use this type and style door. Am I being stuck in a traditional entry door time warp thinking that a sliding glass door is not effective or efficient? Frankly, this style door would look fabulous on my rendering. I have NOT met with an architect yet, btw. Thank you.
