what kind of outdoor lights are the brown ones/
Just wondering if the windows are facing south to let in sunlight (with a northern roof pitch) or if the roof is facing south so that it melts the snow off? We are trying to design a cabin
cabin with a view that is primarily to the south so we would like to do this style of structure but aren't sure a north facing roof is good for heavy snow area (10' plus possible - near ski resort in Utah.)
Guest Cabin face east, toward a mountain wall called Goat Wall. Thus, the west afternoon sun does melt some of the snow on the roof. If you are building in an area that has 10-ft. of snow, I would be a bit nervous about a north-facing roof. By the way, make sure you over-insulate the roof (R-50 or more)

Cool idea- but not good for heavy snow areas
by 6 to 8 percent, cutting down on air conditioning costs. It offers no insulation benefits in wet weather, but the vegetation helps trap blowing snow for insulation benefits. It also protects your roof, extending its life expectancy. Plus, it's much better to look at than asphalt!
