Hi Sasha - Actually there is no stain on these boards -- just a clear finish. That is one of the wonderful things about Douglas Fir -- it looks like this on its own. Note -- all the low wood --on the cabinets is mahogany, also clear finish. - Cathy

What type of finish did you use on the fir decking?
So you simply used Douglas Fir flooring and screwed or nailed it to the ceiling?

The wood floors are Douglas Fir select. Douglas Fir has a beautiful long straight grain. It's on the soft side though so you have to accept an occasional dent. It was finished with Bona Traffic
Thanks. The casings are actually just solid Douglas Fir wood. It projects about 1/2" from the face of the plaster wall and is 1 1/2" wide. The tricky part of the detail is that the contractor has to cut the sheetrock tight to the door frame because there's only 1 1/2" of casing material to cover the

What color stain was used on the fir beams? Are they glulam or solid wood? Thank you!!
stain. The small darker square accent elements are mahogany plugs that were used to cover the recessed connections. They were sanded flush with the fir and the two woods were finished together. Thanks for the question. Cathy
