Last House on the Left
Having been neglected for nearly 50 years, this home was rescued by new owners who sought to restore the home to its original grandeur. Prominently located on the rocky shoreline, its presence welcomes all who enter into Marblehead from the Boston area. The exterior respects tradition; the interior
interior combines tradition with a sparse respect for proportion, scale and unadorned beauty of space and light. This project was featured in Design New England Magazine. http://bit.ly/SVResurrection Photo Credit: Eric Roth

the house makes use of large windows to connect the house with the backyard and make the rooms feel more open. The homeowners wanted a generous library space to house their extensive book collection. These wood cabinets with an abundance of light fit within the open aesthetic of the rest of the house
townhouse was only two stories. We added a third story on the front and a two level addition at the rear. Work also included remodeling the home's existing interior. The home is located in a historic district, so special attention had to be given to maintaing the historic feel while updating the interior.

Not exactly like this but depending on the shape of the house - a gallery library with chairs in an intimate landing area (not a thoroughfare) might work.
the track lighting, art lighting and library lamps used to spotlight the shelves in many of these photos. Shining light on your books and objects will transform the way you experience your library space, especially at night. See more ways to incorporate libraries into other spaces

bibliophile. The bookcases transformed this space from a bowling alley to a library, adding texture, storage, history, visual variety and a place to display beloved objects.
I like the view of the space of the whole hallways and the design of being very comfortable and the shelfs add a good touch to the space and color.
4. Books. Not many of us have enough books to fill an entire library. A hallway is a great location for a smaller library. And, since books don't take up much room (front to back), it can be easy to fit one in. Tip: The shelves don't always have built-in. If you're going to incorporate bookshelves into

Hall Library & Reading Window
cushioned reading nook in bay window adjacent library wall
I've always loved books and the the way they help us imagine the impossible. I've always wanted my own little library, with a window such as this. Many things can happen but
curling up with a book. A window seat is the perfect potential reading nook. Add a shelf with some of her favorite reads, and fluff up a few pillows and blankets to make it cozy. If there isn't a window seat in her home, you can achieve the same feel with a comfy chair in a well-lit corner. Must-haves:
Must-haves: Accessorize with plenty of big pillows and a soft blanket or two. Don't forget a handy shelf and a small table to hold cups of tea. Place a lamp nearby for late nights or stormy afternoons. Decorating tip: Consider putting in an easy-to-install curtain around the nook for privacy (and naps).
