Great look! What is the ceiling height of the room?
Interesting idea for crown molding. Gives depth and space to room
Black crown molding in sitting room ?
Of course, not all molding and trim has to be while and bright; make a real statement with a white room and bold, contrasting trim. This room works especially well because the starkness of the black and white is softened by the wooden doors.

I see no reason why you couldn't consider a rug in your room, if you feel it adds to your design. You might find it helpful to share pictures of your room and consult with a professional
This is a little bit too much but I like the glossy look makes it a little more open to take up modern and the subtle arches not very round
