Lakeside Retreat
What are the beautiful large white flowers at the back of the garden(infront of the fence)?
Is this primarily a shade or medium to full light garden?
Michigan is to the West. The rear of the garden is mostly shaded, but the front edge gets plenty of sun.
We have a shade garden in mostly low to deep shade. The Heuchera
Sedum is not the best choices for shade gardens, but the Heuchera Plum Pudding does just fine in a partial shade location. Deep shade will cause slower growth, however. This planting is a mixed sun/shade with the very edge being mostly sunny. A good shade garden substitute for the Heuchera would be Ligularia
Heuchera thrives, perhaps because it is in an established woodland garden?i have no idea why...to be honest. . And, surprisingly, there is some variety of Sedum which does well in our deep shade! But I am moving it.

Modern Landscape
stones and pebbles and sand. looks nice in the garden. need a big one though
Love how this house relates to the garden.
zen garden - for the sides?
box-shaped zen garden, super clean and minimalist
Stone and SandAsian-style gardens quickly come to mind in a discussion of implied movement. In fact, the Japanese have employed this technique for hundreds of years in their Zen gardens. Here finely crushed stone has been raked into patterns simulating water currents flowing, even circling stone formations

A great design if you're looking to incorporate a bit of urban gardening. Many roofs have the space for a decent sized gardening area if used properly.

Once you've determined that the plant you're interested in will indeed grow where you want to put it, it's time to consider:2. Is the Plant the Right Size for the Job?If you're looking for a garden focal point or a screen
Think “Right tree, right place.” When siting a tree in your garden, survey for overhead and underground utilities that can be problematic during the planting phase and as the tree reaches its full height and root depth
