This renovation project began with the screen doors. Warped and rotted, they needed replacing. From there, it evolved into a new kitchen, mudroom, reconfigured interior spaces, and a general spiffing up both inside and out. The selective restoration of this ocean front home pays homage to its nautical environment. The study in particular was designed to emulate the pilothouse of a ship; the ceiling resembles the ribs of the inner carcass of a boat hull; materials like holly, teak and mahogany replicate boat materials; to amplify the effect.
