There was an article I'm Fine Home Building Magazine that describes how to build a hidden door and the hardware necessary to build it. We used that as a resource.
You might want to refer to the article in Fine Home Building I referred to once before for a similar question. I just spoke to my cabinet maker, though, and he responded that he used a large ball bearing heavy
hidden access to maybe a bathroom or small painting atelier .....
job. A designer spearheaded the aesthetic direction and had the technical expertise to assess the wall structure. Dutka made sure it was possible to build it accurately. And a cabinetmaker built the actual unit.

Trying to figure out the building of the bookshelves.
The vertical centers between the sections of shelves, is there a like a 1/8" gap between what looks like the 1x4 and the 1x2 and are those boards flush or does the 1x2 set back from the 1x4. Love the look and trying to build same looking bookshelves
