a big bookcase to wall studs. The branches come out at an angle, so they'd likely topple over otherwise. The old plumbing pipes were just a cool decorative touch. I'm not the designer, but that's what it looks like to me. Interesting use of random objects to make an artful statement if you ask me. :-)
