I want to do this type of open ceiling at a lake cottage as the ceilings are low. I am wondering how you make an open ceiling like this look so nice? What type of paint should you use, what type of prep work needs to be done, what about eposed nails, etc. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks
We just installed a brand new tongue and groove ceiling ( full replacement of old ceiling) so I can vouch for how much work this job is. First, you can purchase the cheapest pine out there but you will have split boards, extremely rough boards etc. We chose to use select pine which has smaller, tighter
husband literally spent every night painting meticulously for a week. It looks fab though....but I wouldn't attempt this unless you realize first hand how much work this is, or have enough cash to hire the whole job out!

Here’s the other side of the den/library, which leads to the outdoor garden. Love the dressing table/ desk. Who makes it or where can you

WOW - thanks so much for making my day. So kind of you to take the time to say such nice things. Keep checking back, I'm photographing a new project next week.
This looks like a make up table but take away the mirrors and add a computer it would make a great home office
Like how it matches the bedroom but is separate

This Kukio home rests on the sunny side of the Big Island and serves as a perfect example of our style, blending the outdoors with the inside of a home.”Linny Morris
How except for the ceiling do you classify this as tropical?
How many square feet is this room?
Where can I buy the area rug? Very nice! You have excellent taste interior design!
This rug was procured through Azadi Rugs. It is a chunky 60 knot wool hand tufted.
How was the matting applied on the ceiling?
tropical as you can get. It is classic and beautiful but not tropical I am NOT talking Tiki hut tropical. Adding a few pebbles to a tray does not make a room tropical. The only reason this room is classified that way is that it is in a home in Hawaii. I have seen English Country style in homes here
