This industrial inspired kitchen combines a timber island with recycled timber benchtop frame which has been set against a white sleek background. The island is in the middle of an open plan room yet it becomes part of the furniture with the use of timber. The white background with integrated fridge
fridge also disappears ensuring this space feels more like the rest of the house than the kitchen. The island houses concealed drawers and cupboards on one side and 2 ovens, a dishwasher, sink, microwave and storage on the other. Photography by Sue Murray - imagineit.net.au

Where can I buy the grey metallic wall mounted light fixtures on left?
'pre-made' lights available to give you this look and a handyman could attach the pipe.
This lighting idea is really 'smart'. Being able to achieve island lighting without electrical boxes in the ceiling. I think this could be done with a number of lights. We had a similar idea for a client's kitchen that

It seem like a black cord, and the backplate is likely done in a Painted Aluminum to match the modern setting. Kitchen island with suspended shelves above. Photos by Linda Svendsen.
A favorite kitchen of mine was my grandmothers. It had an extremely low ceiling, but with oiled wood joists and floorboards above -- such warmth of material, and incandescent lighting to make it glow. I've always wanted a client who would appreciate such a cozy feeling. In a kitchen you can get away

The new kitchen is tucked out of view from the front door, in a spot where a guest bathroom used to be. It does not get a lot of daily use, as a common part of life in a classic SoHo loft is taking advantage of all the great takeout available. This opened up the opportunity to display more artwork and
and light it accordingly. Photography subjects include Grace Jones and Madonna. The counter stools tuck neatly underneath the island. Crafted from a leather conveyor belt and steel by Jim Zivic, they add to the loft's palette of textures.
