Wonderful house! What exactly is the ceiling made of and how did you treat it to get that corroded finish?

ceiling: naturally oxidized (rusted) 5-V crimped metal panel (salvaged, not new).
Metal sheets. For a more industrial look, currogated metal sheets are used as the ceiling material in this tall space. The more rust the better.

What material is used on the ceilings in this space?
The original tin ceiling tiles were nailed to wood on the ceiling, but you know, these things were done way back before contact cement or double-sided tape were invented. There are also embossed wall coverings that would mimic the look of tin tiles. Lots of ways you can get a ceiling to look like this

here because there really is not so much vertical distance between the fixture and the ceiling. These are typically used in truly high-ceilinged spaces. In this photo its hard to see how they throw onto the ceiling because they are dimmed quite a bit, so acting more for "accent" than ambient illumination
