Quite liked these stairs and stairs of our new house is very similar, if I can know how railing was made in combination with glass it will be big help.
Was the glass installed on top of the sides, or into the sides?
The stair treads are made of Sapele, a hardwood sometimes referred to as African Mahogany.
what would have you used for the stair treads?
Like the idea of seating a piece of priest aimed wood on a white support. does that reduce cost of having to stain the whole step after it's installed?
I still like this style of stairs the best
north along the walkway, one arrives at the stair that connects all three levels. The firm of John Vinci and Philip Hamp is well versed in stair design; the team actually inserted an old Mies van der Rohe stair in their design of the Arts Club of Chicago. The stair appears to magically float — free of visible

bike storage and would love to feature it in the mag as home inspiration to the readers. If you happened to have a clear snapshot of the bikes under stairs in hi-res we would love to use it. Please let me know if this is ok and if you need any further information Look forward to hearing from you Amy

Another easy way to get your bikes out of the way is to use up the space under a flight of stairs. This is an area that often gets forgotten about. This prevents it from becoming a waste of space.

Great stairs for in the garage loft
Stairs going up to the loft
Choose something out of the ordinary for the actual stairs. At the end of the day, the stairs are simply horizontal planks that can be made from a variety of materials. These wood blocks are a great rustic complement to this modern home.
Consider the shape and strength of the materials and think creatively about where they can be incorporated – here beams were used to build a flight of stairs, but you could also build simple shelving fixtures. Integrating raw materials into your home creates a modern rustic look with strong lines and sharp

run to the edges of the risers. Are there stringers under the stairs, and what is the material for the stairs and cabinets?
Thank you for the question. That first step was intentionally left tall to keep the client's young son from wandering up the stairs. Since the stair only goes up to a small storage cubby (not even full ceiling height), we decided this would be a not-so-intrusive safety measure. Great question
What an observant question! That is basically a big step. There are a couple of reasons we did that: the space where the stairs lead is just a small storage loft for the client's art collection; as the space is rarely accessed, we wanted to create a spatial barrier. Also, we

The cantilevered bed pavilion is clad in dark wood, and anchors the space - a central object around which everything revolves. Is there a plan for the stairs??
I absolutely love this stair design! It is really amazing! The built in storage is brilliant and I would love to build this in my micro home. Do you happen to have plans to this or anything that can help me build a stair case like this or close to it? I would

Where diod u get these stairs, and approx cost? Thank you.
Im interested in this stair case what company made it?
IRC does not allow this, but many local codes do. 15 years ago, before the IRC, the codes usually included spiral stair cases in the same category. The exception was usually that any stair other than a standard configuration could only serve habitable space under 200 - 300 square feet. Many local codes
As I write this, this picture has been added to 26k+ ideabooks. I am willing to bet at least 90% of us did it because of the clever stairs. It seems a shame that you can't remember the name of a custom fabricator who did such great work for you. Especially since it's his work that is bringing

that because Glulam wood is softer, if used for stair treads - the treads could start showing wear patterns over time. Is that really a concern?
It really isn't an issue. The only thing we find is dog hair from our dog who likes to sit on the stair and look out the window, but we just vacuum it up
it. It's constructed using 12"x1.5" channel steel as the stringers with welded steel angles to support the 3.5"x11.25" pine glulam beams used as stair treads. The steel railings and stringers are all powder-coated. Hope that helps.......
Open tread wood stairs go great with dark framing and don't intrude into living space.
