that because Glulam wood is softer, if used for stair treads - the treads could start showing wear patterns over time. Is that really a concern?
It really isn't an issue. The only thing we find is dog hair from our dog who likes to sit on the stair and look out the window, but we just vacuum it up
it. It's constructed using 12"x1.5" channel steel as the stringers with welded steel angles to support the 3.5"x11.25" pine glulam beams used as stair treads. The steel railings and stringers are all powder-coated. Hope that helps.......

Open tread wood stairs go great with dark framing and don't intrude into living space.

Where did you you purchase the hanging light fixture?
Hehe, that dog looks intrigued by it, that's for sure. ;) The layout of it kind of looks like a sputnik layout. If you like the lights, our custom-made Kadur pendant lights made from blown glass look very similar.
Light fixture! Could make it myself!

Where are those fabulous lights from?
I have a giant Oak tree that I would like to light in exactly this way, but have been having a hard time finding the right fixture. Any info would be great! Thank you.

modern multilevel deck has lights hanging above it at multiple levels. It seems to follow the varying heights of the trees, offering glimpses of the water from up high or down closer to the water.

Beautiful stair. I'm curious about the glass support.
Depends on the light and angle. The rail is made of typical tempered glass, which has a green tint because of the iron content. There are low-iron versions available that are less green, but it's more expensive and we couldn't make that work in the budget.
glass instead of wall to open up stairs.
Again, we seem to like stairs with wood and glass.

Can you please share the thickness of the wood stair treads? I cannot seem to decide what to do for my new home. Thank you so much!
Love the light fitting hanging over the table, where can I get one and how much?
A local steel fabrication shop should be able to build the stair stringers
The name of the light is Candelaria Chandelier by Robert Abbey and there are several location where it can be purchased. Just search it on the web.

Stairs. Easy to build! Channel and wood slabs.
I love how the light enters the room and how nature continues into the space.
Interior materials: Love the industrial feel here. Brushed steel(?) wall and thick-beam base of stair. Black-framed windows. Use light-wood floors.

However needs higher ceilings to allow more light to enter so the area does not appear as dark.
