homasote board...a green product, like sheetrock but not as dense, so that you can put the pins in it. We put a little padding around it, upholstered it in a white linen, backed it with a thin plywood and used a cleat to hang it. If I remember correctly I think I had about 6-8 yds of tape trim. I would
your own board for the trim by laying the tape where you want to lay the trim.

shelf/fence off Craigslist. I was in a hurry to get this room done as a Christmas present for my kids on a low budget and did a lot of "used" shopping. Someone made this little bookshelf and added the fence tines to the front side and it fit perfectly (I did cut it down a tad). But the idea is great
