of the cabinets. We cantilevered the slate about 12" without support and it has held up ok although there is some flex that is making the wall to slate caulk stretch a little too much. For larger cantilevers we recommend letting in a series of flat bar steel supports to the cabinet carcases.

I imagine the venting raises out of the countertop. You can somewhat see a "separate" stainless steel bar on the back of the cooktop. I'm thinking that's the vent that raises.
The kitchen is 12'-0" x 18'-10" x 11'-4" high from the corner of the island to the far right corner. This does not include the built in brick oven "behind this photo"

top appears to be thinner at sink edge than at the outer edge. I'd like to apply a flat moulding to make the butcher block appear thicker than the 1 1/2" that it is, but don't know if it will work. Just glue it on and clamp to dry?

You're very welcome. The splash is actually a 12" X 24" tile made by Walker Zanger called Steel Work Argento. It is a beautiful look with stainless appliances and is a nice compliment to a granite counter
