Mediterranean-style kitchens. Flared hoods, hand-painted tile, warm wood cabinets, beamed ceilings and arched cooking alcoves are just some of the features that put Spanish revival kitchens on the most-wanted list. Guide: 8 Elements of a Mediterranean Kitchen
1. Rich, warm colors. The Mediterranean palette draws from sun and sea, bright flora and foliage, and other elements of the region. a back piece that lies flat against the door. The owners of this kitchen used dressy knobs with back plates that leave no doubt about the room’s Mediterranean style. Expect to pay a bit more for a knob with a back plate, as opposed to a knob alone.Pros: The back plate protects your finish from fingernail
if: You want high impact that underscores the style you’ve chosen, such as a stylized European, Asian or Victorian theme.Styles they work with: Mediterranean, Tuscan, Victorian, Asian, traditional, eclectic, vintage, Gothic, Edwardian

7. Arches. In this generously sized kitchen, an arch separates the cooking and dining areas and adds to the Mediterranean look. There's another arch in the niche by the range.
