the most prominent materials in the open living space is the paneling behind the kitchen, made from mild steel mounted on integrally colored fiber cement. That fiber cement is also exposed elsewhere in the interior, continuing the home’s theme of durability and low maintenance.
kitchen backsplash: milled steel mounted on "integrally colored fiber cement." (Why "integrally colored?") Presume those are fiber cement panels on ceiling, too--though don't know why one would do that....

Forgive me if you didn't receive a reply for this earlier...The cabinets are Brookhaven/Vista-Veneer Solid opaque - Slate finish MDF fiber board and Champagne finish on cherry wood.

I am not sure why the shape of the tile changes (or maybe its an optical illusion caused by a fish-eye lens) but I slightly prefer the rectangle to the square. With either shape I like the running bond (off set) placement
