renovation in a turn-of-the-century South Minneapolis home was accomplished within the existing structure’s footprint. The homeowner, a famous fictional writer with a taste for the eclectic, had purchased a red French Volnay range and wanted to create a stylish yet functional kitchen to surround it.
I like this use of a smaller space (looks like there's a place to drop the mail, too)
Extra counter space between kitchen and eat-in
Something about the way things happen at right angles in the narrow space holds promise
The layout is similar to my galley kitchen and showcases how you can utilize the space well.

Seems like the 3 feet outside is wasted space - too narrow to be useful. I'd rather an Adirondak chair on the grass than that tiny chair crammed into the narrow space.
pockets take up no extra space, but have the potential to vastly expand the square footage of a kitchen during nice weather.
Sliding glass doors and screens that slide into pockets take up no extra space, but have the potential
2. Go for sliders. Sliding glass doors and screens that slide into pockets take up no extra space, but have the potential to vastly expand the square footage of a kitchen during nice weather.

Moving the sink to the new wall and opening up the space
way to squeeze an island into this compact kitchen. I don't know how much room this homeowner has to walk around it, but the extra storage and prep space would be worth it for me.

wider, since it hangs over. Maybe an extra 5 inches. We thought briefly about doing a 40 inch stovetop, but then we thought we'd lose too much prep space on the other side, so we're happy with the decision to use the smaller one. Have fun doing your kitchen!
island and a peninsula. do we have the space
Love the large/build in stove in the island, prefer not to have such a loud color for the entire space.
priority was maximizing space. Before the remodel, the kitchen had only two cabinets, two drawers, a space under the sink for storage. The room was also poorly organized, so Kravits enlisted the help of a friend and architect to redesign the kitchen.By emphasizing wide spaces between the sink and stove

This small space demanded attention to detail and smart solutions, starting with the table in chairs. Too tiny for a standard kitchen table, we added a table that folds down against the wall with foldable chairs that can be hung on the wall when not in use. Typically neglected space between the refrigerator
and the wall was turned into spice cabinets, ceiling height uppers maximize storage, and a mirrored backsplash creates the illusion of more space. But small spaces don't have to be vacant of character, as proven by the distressed aqua cabinetry and mismatched knobs.
NOTE USE OF SPACE/CABINET TO THE RIGHT OF REFRIGERATOR
different Anthropologie knob on every drawer and cabinet reflects the homeowners' eclectic taste. Carrino and Colaneri used every last inch of storage space available — even sneaking in two vertical spice racks next to the refrigerator. The custom cabinetry cost about $17,500, and appliances were about $4
