Are these fir floors and how were they finished?
I recently purchased a 1920s home and they have beautiful original floors that, unfortunately, clash terribly with the thinner darker oak that was placed in a 1980s remodel. How were these floors refinished and sealed - they are

Does Fir scratch pretty easily? How is yours coated and cleaned?
Hi, Thanks for you interest, yes these are the original doug fir subfloor, they were sanded and clear coated. I can only imagine that it is the nature of the wood that yours is darker. Thanks, Patrick

Do you know what kind of wood the floors are or the stain used?
Hi Charlie, The wood floors are Fir and the stain is a custom mix . Mixing stain colors is often the best way to get the right color . You should always try the stain samples on the wood floor it is being used on.

Great job! Love the floor. Fresh, dearing and great solution to a problem.
based on my floor (http://www.designsponge.com/2008/12/sneak-peek-catherine-weis.html) that was featured on design sponge. Here's a tutorial that I did for craft magazine: http://makezine.com/craft/flashback_hand-printed_pattern/
interested to know what kind of stain was used on the floor? and also
I had bookmarked or pinned the stencils from a photo of another floor like this. I used Photoshop to cut/distort into a flat shape. Then scaled it up / had it printed at Fed Ex/Kinkos on their plotter and then traced onto

The glowing old-growth Douglas fir floors are original to the house; they were hidden under wall-to-wall carpeting. This Douglas Fir floor offers a traditional looking finish to a room, with a unique species.
Was this new wood, or reclaimed? Is it vertical grain? What kind of finish did you use. I am installing a fir floor right now, not sure if we should stain or stay natural. Thanks
A new floor would usually indicate second or third growth. Its very pretty.
