Can you tell me more about these floating shelves
I would love to install floating shelves that hold VERY heavy books....I can see that these are holding Le Creuset pots so
These are custom shelves (made with the rest of the cabinetry).

looking at floating shelves for a bar area to hold glasses, barware and wine/liquor. I am concerned about how wide I can make the shelves and subsequently how much weight they can hold. Any suggestions? Thanks!
These were mounted on the wall to metal rods drilled directly in to the studs. Each shelf had three rods (or four - don't remember precisely) and the shelves are 8 feet long. The shelves were slid on to the rods in to holes bored in the rear of the shelf. They are very sturdy.
Our shelves are only 10 inches deep - but they could have been deeper. I chose ten so you wouldn't hit your head on them when leaning over the sink. Hope that helps.

Love the shelves over the countertop! What height are they hung? Braced on a wall?
can one order the wooden shelves?
These shelves were custom made from two live-edge walnut slabs and a brass rod to suspend them from the ceiling (the other end is secured firmly to a wall to prevent them from swaying). I've never encountered something similar for sale, but a good wood-worker/furniture maker could probably re-create

I like the shelves....use as breakfast bar?

What are the floating shelves made of and approximately, how long are they?

They will break up the space and create a beautiful mix of finishes. If you are looking to display plates, find a shelf with a

What is the spacing between the shelves?
The bottom shelves in this photo do not appear to meet safety codes. In Canada, the bottom of the bottom shelf must be at least 18" from the countertop, to be so close to the stove. If you want them lower than 18", then they need to be 20" shorter in length )away from the stove) for
bottom shelves. Either lose the symmetry, or raise the bottom shelf. An inspector will notice this for resale, otherwise it is the homeowner's risk now while they enjoy their kitchen.

what is the thickness of the shelves
I am doing a new kitchen and would like to know the depth of these shelves. please help.
I have oak wood cabinets and don't like the closed look, I want a more open feel and love the individual shelves I keep seeing. Is there anyone who may have an idea of what I can do while still using my cabinets as to save money and recycling. I was thinking turning them
that the shelves are partially enclosed - Without doors to cover them, they will get dusty & greasy regardless.
These shelves are called floating shelves and have interior mounting systems. Here is a thread on the Houzz Questions page addressing floating shelves: http://www.houzz.com/qu

under shelves or cupboards, remember what it is you are trying to light. In this photo, it is my understanding that the illumination is to highlight the objects on the shelf. Because the led strips are located directly adjacent to the wall, the wall surface becomes the focal point. In some instances
to find shelving (preferably floating) that has underside lighting to display rocks and minerals. Or a display case/curio cabinet that has lights.
Yes. Are the light strips recessed into a "trough" or are they simply applied to the under surface of the shelves? I'm curious ... How are the strips of
