Eclectic Kitchen
Is this floor "denting" and soft? If not, how did you finish it for hardness? I have been pulling my hair out thinking of how to compliment an old fir floor in the rest of the house w/something other than ceramic tile in the kitchen, I NEVER thought of parquet!
Counters all the way to the door. Perhaps move the refrigerator by pantry.
Sometimes what you really need to say is flat-out, “Um, no. I don’t want that.” Houzz user chaefender employed it perfectly. “I let someone move in with me while I was in the midst of painting my whole house inside and out,” chaefender writes. “I guess she felt left out and said, ‘Hey, we should totally paint

Gainer took out a wall between the kitchen and dining rooms to merge the spaces. The salvaged Douglas fir shelves come from the original 120-year-old wall, making the kitchen and historic home more cohesive. These shelves, the cork flooring and the paper-based countertops will all ding, dent and darken

Great mix of class and contemporary. Love the unobtrusive door pulls on the dark cabinets, can you tell me what they are (small bar?) and who makes them?

I think that it is imperative to the design of the floor to match the shine of the finished hardwood. How do you get that shine out of the tile?
You should ask the interior designers: Carolyn Tierney, ASID, CSBA and Diane Susoev, Allied ASID of ECOterior Solutions. They picked out that tile.
A damp mop wrung out really well with a mild detergent should do the trick. Or I supposed you could carefully separately clean both surfaces with separate products.
