in the household who will be using it?
This island above could have been just as easily a single level, but it's clear to me that the owner wanted not only to have folks sitting at the island, but also a sort of separation between the workspace and the eating area as well as a sort of visual barrier
in this household - so the dishwasher is mounted on the floor below the counter rather than raised up on a plinth under a raised counter which would make it easier for someone with a back injury to use without bending over...
...and there's nobody in a wheelchair here which would make a lowered counter
area. Decorative panel to view of family room. Doors to storage at sides and by feet.
Idea: keep counter raised on right side to accomodate a raised dishwasher.
seems household traffic would go right through the work area to get to the exterior? I am having a similar problem with my layout and would appreciate any advice.
nice ceiling decoration..but how to stick the tiles?
ceiling idea, but would like it better if it added the warmth of copper, maybe even use it ass a back splash behind a stove top? Thanks for any answers.
like the idea of two islands but kind of want a breakfast table at the end by the windows, this is the perfect solution for our new space!

reuse household items that aren't going out to the curb. Perhaps old magazines can be used as wrapping paper or decoupaged onto vases and boxes; empty jars might hold craft supplies or corral silverware at casual cookouts; the last dregs of paint in the can could be splashed onto a canvas for DIY artwork
of the household. "We wanted the kitchen to be functional with as much storage as possible without feeling overwhelming," Meisels says. "We were looking for light and airy, and running the cabinets right up to the ceiling utilized every square inch of storage while also creating the illusion of height

a busy household or after a lot of use, is the shine going to become patchy in areas from wear as compared to stone? Is the counter-top safe from the heat of the stove top? Sorry, off topic.
