have the marble delivered for a custom job?
The Marble on the island is just amazing. My wife and I love the material and are would love to use it for a similar kitchen island and our master bathroom. Can you help us figure out how long it would take to have a custom job done? Thank you!!! Paul
such as marble, you are better off using the marble in a matte finish. Remember, the more shiny or polished the marble is, the more you will notice etch marks! Besides, marble is supposed to have character, how is it that it has been used in Europe for thousands of years and no one ever complains about

People often mix up these two marbles, so I decided to create an ideabook to illustrate the differences. These terms are used inte
Italian marbles are very similar in appearance: white with gray veining. To add to the confusion, much of Calacatta comes from Carrara, Italy. In general, Carrara tends to be grayer with softer veining, while Calacatta is whiter with bolder more dramatic veining. There are additional subtle differences

polish the marble surface and thereby reduce the honed look. That could defeat the purpose of having honed marble. My daughter has honed marble in her kitchen and is going through that same dilemma on her marble counters. Some have been etched by mistakenly using Lysol or allow acidic foods to come in contact

with the marble, (i.e. the juice from freshly sliced tomatoes). If, for some reason, you do decide to use "BKF", do not under any circumstances use the liquid form as it has Oxalic acid in it. Use only the dry powder form.( EDIT: I just read my BKF label and it says BKF Powder also has oxalic acid and
'real' marble!!) I would also apply it and scrub it in using a very fine abrasive pad such as ScotchBrite. Good hardware stores sell them in various grades of abrasiveness. Grey pads are the finest and should only be used. If you can handle the smell of Comet (aka: bleached cleansers) take a look at

polished marble? Which is better for the kitchen?
a tile, marble&terrazzo business I do know how sensitive this an many gorgeous counter tops can be. Even with sealing them, the marble will still stain over time (esp. if used as a countertop). There are several websites that can offer assistance as a guide. Here's a link to the first site I pulled up
about marble. If you are patient and don't obsess about keeping things pristine, over time it will patina and be beautiful. I went to Eataly in NYC last week and saw the marble counter tops and floors in the vicinity of the bakery. They had such a beautiful patina on them. So now, I'm not as upset

I love this marble...and I want it in my kitchen but all people that I know say "don't
don't have marble...I have concrete...but the problem is the same). If you stay true to your nature, you can't go wrong. Also -- check out super white granite as an alternative. It does not have the same veining as marble. Yet it has the same color scheme and also shows off the beauty of nature. Good

to do marble up the walls but i was unable to find the quantity in the specific order of slabs we selected. We have enough for behind the range, and we also considered using a 1x8 or 1x6 handmade subway tile but I'm just not in love with the idea of using tile. They typical 4" backsplash is starting
