Great idea for a cutting board
Stylish and easily accessible cutting board option
such a spectacle. For a more refined method of cutting, a sturdy wood cutting board and quality bread knife will do the job best. The board shown here features a wooden lip that helps anchor it to the countertop for more precise cuts (and less chance of cutting yourself).
This Z-shaped cutting board adds a warm, organic touch to this sleek kitchen. The front ridge keeps the board in place, and the back keeps the knife steady while cutting; the raised back also lets you sweep chopped food into a pan or bowl in one fell swoop.

Scalloped hood and cabinetry details - sweet serendipity!
Is the hood available or is it custom? Is it metal or wood? Also the scalloped trim details on the cabinetry info or source appreciated.

hood for something fancy. Looking for a bigger change? Instead of going with a plain old range hood, choose one in a custom color or with a fancy scalloped edge, like the one shown here.

Do you mean the cutting board? I think that's just called a cutting board with a lip, to help stabilize it as you work.

love that cutting board! where is it from? Stunning kitchen!
Where can I get the cutting board on the island?
The opposite side has a second sink (With the main sink out of view to the right)... There is a second dishwasher next to the island sink. The cutting board (out of Walnut) has a slot for crumbs. That slot opens into a small drawer (that is visible in the photo) that has a lift-out liner for emptying

do you intend on cutting that rustic loaf with the chef's knife?
counter butcher block cutting boards. I have four of them. When I bought the house they were warped. A carpenter reglued, patched and sanded them. I've been caring for them with Howard Wood Block Conditioner. Food Grade Mineral Oil & Natural Waxes (Home Depot). Actually I don't cut on them. I put a thin

thin plastic cutting mat down on top. It feels different to chop on plastic on wood vs on top of a hard counter top. That I can easily wash. Otherwise the board attracts mice in the fall/winter. I use the boards a lot for extra space. They almost double my counter top usable space in times of need.

What material was used to scallop the shelves?
the counters because they are wood too. The breadboard I'd say is pretty durable. The counters are oiled periodically and the homeowner just cuts on a cutting board so that helps keep the counters pretty maintainance free for wood counters plus they dont mind a little signs of wear and tear.
how it looks funky. I know that we would need to put this under the window since it would never work in an island. I like the stove and pull-out cutting board, though i havent noticed that in any kitchen lately.
like the cut-out under the sink
