long, narrow spaces, tight circulation and furniture placement is often difficult. Created over three levels, this sinuous void opens up visually and gives volume to the narrow, longitudinal space. Simplified joinery, furnishings and the galley kitchen allow for ample circulation space. By stepping

I have an 11 x 11' space and would love to do this. We are breaking down the walls and want something that will fit nicely. I like the angles of the island...
Would you please post the floor plan to this fabulous space?

The configuration. We can make the laundry room the kitchen facing the outer deck doors. The space in between can be a sitting room or eat in component.
The Burrys painted the walls and baseboards white to give the space a light and airy feel. The floor is covered in spruce, while the stairs are pine, and both have been treated with a wood stain. Because of limited storage space — the home doesn't have a basement — they added storage cabinets wherever

know the approximate square footage and the decision to put the fridge in the pantry. Was the fridge placed in the pantry for flow or just to increase space in the kitchen? Or is there another reason? it's a unique idea.
approximate square footage is between 45-50 sq ft. The decision to put the fridge in the pantry was for both flow and space in the kitchen intending to capitalize on entertaining space.
These wire basket units fixed to the wall are a great solution for little depth spaces. I also like pull out shelf/drawers ... much better than just shelfs that if deep always make the stuff behind unfindable.
The wire shelves have birch wood trim on the front edges. All of this is available at The Container Store where the in-store designers will do the space planning for free! www.containerstore.com

I really like that the kitchen spans such a large space and is connected to the outdoor patio with another dining table. I also like the use of wood panels and bright colors
particularly like the usage of materials and colors that make the outdoor and interior space blend well, almost seamlessly.

like this space; each room seems to have its own color, but all rooms are grounded with the same color - white

use of colors for transition between spaces
I don't think the layout works for our house, but I love the overall feel. Huge windows, bright, cozy, liveable space
Use color to differentiate spaces. In this open floor plan, the sky blue dining chairs clearly coordinate, yet delineate this space as being different from the family room area. The kitchen is given its own color in the island pendant lights and countertops. Notice the one color that's consistent throughout
throughout the three spaces is white. This keeps it modern and cohesive at the same time.

Keeping space open below sinks and stoves, and wider pathways are great for those in a wheelchair. A small change that makes a big impact is replacing knobs that

against that wall so that we create space for a pantry and wine fridge. I was also thinking about an island but wondering if that will cramp up the space too much. There is additionally an adjacent walk though area (open frames, no doors giving an open feel to the spaces) adjoining the living room and formal
ft and is continuous with the main kitchen area, but when the cabinetry and appliances have been installed I am afraid it is going to disjoint the space a bit....and to add to the problem that wall in the transition area has baseboard heating which cannot be removed at this time unfortunately. any ideas
a similar hue is a great way to bring depth and interest to your space. A soft mineral green covers the walls in the space shown here, while a deep bottle green brings the island and range hood into focus. Warm wood floors keep the space feeling welcoming and relaxed.
