Designed by Bryan Anderson This kitchen renovation was driven by a desire to create a space for semi-formal dining in a small eat-in kitchen. By removing an imposing central island with range, and expanding a perimeter dropped soffit, we created a well-proportioned space in which to center a table for gathering. The expanded soffit cleaned up awkward angles at the ceiling and implies a thickness to the wall from which the kitchen is carved out. Small, flexible appliances enable full cooking potential, and modular cabinets provide highly functional features in minimal space. Ebony stained base cabinets recede, white-washed upper cabinets and panels reflect light, large-format ceramic counters and backsplash withstand culinary abuse, European oak flooring and accents provide warmth, and all combine under a ceiling of metallic paper to envelop users and guests in functional comfort. Tile the splashback with a pattern - While the traditional subway pattern remains a popular choice with tiling, you can try some alternatives, such as herringbone or hexagon. Hamptons-style kitchens often feature marble or fine imported tiles, but you can find less expensive tiles that still look similar. GET THE LOOK FOR LESS: If your budget doesn’t permit marble tiles, stick to simple budget friendly white subway tiles. Save your pennies instead to invest in a good tiler who knows how to execute complicated patterns like herringbone. This is an example of a timeless l-shaped open concept kitchen with stainless steel appliances, ceramic backsplash, a farmhouse sink, shaker cabinets, white cabinets, marble countertops, medium hardwood floors. — Houzz Sand Kasl Imaging

This large home had a lot of empty space in the basement and the owners wanted a small-sized kitchen built into their spare room for added convenience and luxury. This brand new kitchenette provides everything a regular kitchen has - backsplash, stove, dishwasher, you name it. The full height counter matching backsplash creates a beautiful and seamless appeal that adds texture and in general brings the kitchen together. The light beige cabinets complement the color of the counter and backsplash and mix brilliantly. As for the apron sink and industrial faucet, they add efficiency and aesthetic to the design.

An outdated 1920's kitchen in Bayside Queens was turned into a refreshed, classic and timeless space that utilized the very limited space to its maximum capacity. The cabinets were once outdated and a dark brown that made the space look even smaller. Now, they are a bright white, accompanied by white subway tile, a light quartzite countertop and brushed brass hardware throughout. What made all the difference was the use of the dark porcelain floors as a great contrast to all the white. We were also diligent to keep the hold extractor a clear glass and stainless steel.

The rooms in this charming 1920’s Burns Park home were completely compartmentalized (typical for homes built in this period). The homeowners wanted a more open space with sightlines into the dining and living spaces, and a kitchen that could accommodate more than one cook! We removed a wall and replaced it with a beautiful Butternut beam and countertop seating, a more casual eating area to supplement their dining room. Bringing this home into 2018 while paying respect to its historic neighborhood was an important part of this project. The personality, cabinetry and contemporary finishes in this kitchen better mirror this cheerful and vibrant family.
