Where do you get wood slabs like the one on the island? Very interesting. LOVE IT!
what is the natural wood sealed with? is it safe for food prep?
What kind of wood is this?
particular slab and much of the wood in his lumber yard is from reclaimed and salvaged sources. If you are looking for 'one of a kind' Chuck is an excellent starting point. Here is another slab out of 3" thick curly redwood Chuck produced in conjunction with Santa Cruz Wood.
have a record of what paint color was used here, but here is a list of paints that others have listed as similar, on other photos of this project: Garden Gate by Valspar Sassy Green 6416 by Sherwin Williams. bought this malm fireplace, but am told we need a hearth under it. Any good suggestions as to what material we should use. The fireplace is on a light wood floor right now.....all the photos I see of this fireplace never have a hearth underneath.
Plastic laminate edge. Exposed plywood or layered wood strips.
Laminate over wood with exposed edge
exposed edge laminate (on top of plywood)
I like the raw edge, perhaps we could slice ours?
laminate counter top with wood exposed
Because laminates are so thin, edge details require forethought to avoid that telltale brown line at the counter's edge. Options include:Profiled edge: Laminates have advanced to now have beveled, ogee and bullnose edge profiles, which vary by manufacturer. Edge band: These thick and dense veneers

live wood edge island top
based on the jersey shore, how can i locate a counter top like this one? thank you http://www.houzz.com/photos/442855/live-wood-edge-island-top-contemporary-kitchen-san-francisco
is the manufacturer of the cabinets? They're great! Also, what is the counter material & color (not the wood).
What species of wood is the countertop?
love the cabinets. what kind of wood? and style?
These cabinets have wider panels than the normal Shaker style I've seen. Are the drawers also similarly paneled? What kind of wood are they? What color stain?
The wood is Red Birch in a natural clear finish. The drawer fronts are just a slab style. Yes the stiles and rails of the doors are much larger than standard
I am in the process of having a kitchen island counter made like this. I went through a woodworker who cuts and mills his own wood from local trees. It is truly a special piece when you know the history of the tree!

finished cabinets in opal and pashmina colours paired with the new imitation wood grain melamine. They surround the central black oak island upon which sit a work surface of quartz and an Iroko wood block, both with a reverse angle edge. Proof that elegance and simplicity can coexist. To top off the design:
love the cabinets! Could you please tell me what wood they are made of>
Good morning kelowna. This is not wood. It is the new imitation wood grain melamine from our supplier Uniboard. If you have others questions, do not hesitate to communication with us (info@tendances-concept

Red wood cabinetry used in island, need to find place that sells it.
is the island one slab or a laminate edge?
information. Via Granite Grannies in an earlier comment: “The counter looks like a Honed (or leathered) Juparana Vyara Granite with a laminated rock pitch edge.” This project is a design-build by Rand Olsen Construction in Idaho Falls, ID. We supplied the sinks. Hope that helps! ~Beth Fillerup
Thank you Beth, but I live in Canada near the Toronto area. Can you tell what that type of wood is actually referred to as?
Can you share what you found out? What is the wood used for the cabinetry?
