the two grasses. I looked at many salvias, but none resembled the spires in the picture. Are they Heucheras? Continue to be in awe of this exquisite design. Thanks :)

Hello Scott, Again, love much about this design photo. My question is.....can I use many of your selected plantings in Southern IN. We've purchased
pre-emergent before applying 3" fertile mulch. Plant the Thyme in the mulch and re apply Preen over the top. Thymus serphyllum can be found at several local nurseries. Swanson's in Ballard usually carries it. T & L Nursery in Redmond propagates it, but may only be wholesale. Call before you go.

Was fencing designed to deter deer?
through drip irrigation? Thank you for helping those of us who are design challenged ; )
Thank you for the compliment on the garden! After a search through our archives, this photo is the only one that shows the entry. - Shari
It works! We do not have a problem with deer...just small animals. Anyway I love you design!!!
We did use 4x4's for the posts and wrap them in 1x cedar. The client added the other things you mentioned after the fact to hold more tools. The top bar is supporting a wire mesh for the plants to grow
is a good idea. I know that some people have to get ten feet high vinyl fencing to keep the deer out. Make sure to ask the fencing person before you buy - they might have a few ideas too.

to use it. In this photo aromatic aster is a late-season accent among perennials that are already bare and ugly. It can really pick up the slack when everything else has lost its leaves. You could also use it as a shrub border, or as a front-of-the-border plant in a more formal design.

I'd love to do something like this in my small Bay Area backyard. Would you happen to have photos of the final product when the grass grew around the slabs? I'm sure the look and feeling is very different. Love the style!
artificial grass brands either have holes punched into the back for drainage or have to come to complete saturation before draining, absorbing bacteria, allergens, urine and other materials before draining. Feel free to check out the differences for yourself at EasyTurf.com and FieldTurf.com - as a point
sand over native topsoil, and we infilled around the stones with topsoil so that grass could be seeded (not shown in this picture taken immediately after project completion). The limited base may result in some shifting over time, though the site is located on a sandy, well drained soil, which means that

I just want to build one and I'd like to know if there is a step by step plan that I can follow before heading to Home Depot! Thank you, Dena Stanley Leon San Diego, CA 92117
I guess the two objects could be from the 'owner', the horn is winter (For me), the shell is just abused with blue paint, tacky. Setting and design nice, although confusing from these two elements.
down to 21". Seat back approx. 33-36" high. All measurements from finished grade. Good luck --- post photos when you're done!
Hi Margie, I want to thank you for all your photos and ideas. After waiting 45 years we finally got the lot behind us and I'm so excited to turn it into a paradise! My husband

memory says its a dark forest green by Sherwin Williams. Best bet is to get some color samples and to have the fence primed and painted in the shop before installation. Good Luck!
Sherwin-Williams has a great widget where you can find colors from photos you search. Go to their website and download it - its called chip it. Maybe that will help. Good luck.
So much information about it. Wish all photos were like this on Houzz.
