How to secure picket fence on top of the stone?
core drill into wall; set custom bolts into drill locations with two part masonry epoxy. Recommend top of stone wall to have hand selected flat wide stones to minimize grout lines and provide secure top that has less chance of popping.
we like the fence on top of stone, not necessarily
You can make those trellis things by putting 4 pre made ones together and framing the top.

To put outside of kitchen window
Carlos I like this design for out side it would give you a place to put your feet would be harder to build but it could be done in tile or stone, counter top doesn't have to be granite being it is outside

has that carry-over feature which allows them to see through to the driveway plus gives the gate a little character. The top of the fence is meant to mimic the pattern of the top of the windows at the back of the house. The stucco columns in the fence, on either side of the gate and down that side of
of the yard, tie into the house using the same stucco finish and the Indiana limestone caps on the columns match the caps on top of the upper terrace and the window sills.
What size tile is best for a backsplash in a small kitchen?
Kitchen is L shaped with small island, hardwood floors. Looking at neutral colored granite for island and counters. Wondering if small 1" tiles are best due to small size.

I need a photo or some ideas... I want all white appliances but I don't know what color of cabinets to go with. I will have dark and light brown stained concrete floors?
Farmstead. The floors are dark with granite counters. the Cabinetry is light colored with a copper range hood over the center island. The images of the kitchen are on his web site.

like the contrast at the top
Simple lines - really like this effect
Love the clean lines earthy color and dark trim.
Visual balance to exterior is acheived between the lower kitchen roof and higher loungeroom roof gables by setting the lounge windowsill higher in the wall and taking the kitchen windows to the floor as sliding doors. This would also make practical visual sense from the
lines of symetry in windows and doors

opened up to create a larger, more flexible space for living and entertaining. The ceiling in the central vestibule was lifted up through the roof and topped with a skylight that provides daylight to the middle of the house. The broken-down garage in the back was transformed into a light-filled office space
possibilities for appliances and additional cabinetry. If this can be achieved by cantilevering the addition (which does not require a foundation) and if the addition can be tucked under existing overhangs, the need to frame in a new roof is eliminated as well.
Kitchen and Small dining area bump out
Bosworth Hoedemaker Small solutions. Sometimes a very small addition can yield big results, particularly in kitchens. Adding just 3 or 4 feet to a cramped kitchen can open
