To maintain the aspect of saving space a sliding door might be a great addition to this laundry area to keep the door from opening into the other space.
I see many now stacking washer & dryers. Looks very nice and saves space but seems it would be extremely hard to remove clothing from top unit.

I really like this space and have recently
dimensions. Appliances are presently along what would be the window wall and I am planning on stacking them as shown in your photo to gain the counter space and storage. In moving them I'm praying I can extend all lines(gas and washer hoses, etc.) to stack them exactly where these are without moving any

Considering so much space is available and IMO for it to be completely finctional and ergonomical in design the need for the washer and dryer to be side by side containing underneath drawers with the folding space next to the outside of the dryer. Was this not a consideration
