The flooring is just white porcelain hexagonal tiles (1" or so) with some of them removed from the mesh backer and replaced with black hex tiles to make the flower shape. The scale and of the pattern was determined by keeping one sheet intact and then inserting the black tiles into the next ( I.e.

For the record we purchased the quatzite from Home Depot on sale for $1.99 a square foot not from Northern Stone Supply as they have mentioned above. Also I said that it has a roughness or unevenness like slate without the shale edges, not, that it looks like slate as Benjiik has mentioned. It looks
