(nearly) everything in cold water. According to Energy Star, heating the water accounts for 90 percent of the energy used in washing machines. Cold water with detergent cleans as effectively as a warm wash, saves energy, and slows wear and tear on your clothes. Use hot water just when you really need to
Energy Star rated washer. When it's time to trade in your old washer, be sure to look for a new model with the Energy Star label — they use half the water and up to 30 percent less energy than standard washers.

What flooring material do you recommend with these racks? It appears the water just drips through?
The finish on the wood is very water resistant. The Miele washer also does a good job of extracting most of the water so the clothes going on the racks are usually damp, but not dripping. I have actually contacted a metal worker
These skinny drawers are fitted with water-resistant racks that allow air to circulate, so your clothes will be ready to wear before you know it.

If you're all electric, like we are, you might look into a backup generator. We're fairly rural, and our water relies on an electric pump. I also freeze food from the garden
Where are the water shut off valves? I dislike seeing them so would like to do this...thanks!

How would you get to the dryer vent and washer water connections if you had to?

Was curious as to how the water flows out and how the dryer gas line runs. We were told they should be placed on an outter wall which these clearly
