Sorry I missed your question! The drain for the washer is on the wall behind it as well as the supply water. We did install shut-off valves in the cabinet above however so they could be easily shut-off when not in use (vacations, etc) This is really not
(nearly) everything in cold water. According to Energy Star, heating the water accounts for 90 percent of the energy used in washing machines. Cold water with detergent cleans as effectively as a warm wash, saves energy, and slows wear and tear on your clothes. Use hot water just when you really need to
Energy Star rated washer. When it's time to trade in your old washer, be sure to look for a new model with the Energy Star label — they use half the water and up to 30 percent less energy than standard washers.

What flooring material do you recommend with these racks? It appears the water just drips through?
The finish on the wood is very water resistant. The Miele washer also does a good job of extracting most of the water so the clothes going on the racks are usually damp, but not dripping. I have actually contacted a metal worker
These skinny drawers are fitted with water-resistant racks that allow air to circulate, so your clothes will be ready to wear before you know it.
Another way for cold water wash, but Not in front of washer /dryer
Forget drying delicates over a shower rod or the back of a chair. These skinny drawers are fitted with water-resistant racks that allow air to circulate, so your clothes will be ready to wear before you know it.

find one that does not seem to be "staged". A dryer can not be placed flat against a wall because of the vent hose and a washer almost always has the water knob behind or above it slightly which is an eyesore itself. PLEASE help us find a picture of a counter that is functional AND pretty with instructions
joints instead of modern glued pvc. Later repair means opening walls. Water filters under sinks or whole house is a breeze now too. If you're all electric, like we are, you might look into a backup generator. We're fairly rural, and our water relies on an electric pump. I also freeze food from the garden
Where are the water shut off valves? I dislike seeing them so would like to do this...thanks!

How would you get to the dryer vent and washer water connections if you had to?
look at comments and question about vent and water connections
if we move the hot water heater into the garage we could do this wall in the laundry room... nice!
A portion of the countertop lifts off to expose piping, vent duct, etc. and there is enough room to access/disconnect the water supply and hose connections.
