the same stone -- a honed black granite. If you look at another of my projects "Marin County House" you can find a similar fireplace and the image gives you a better sense of the detail. The outer frame of the surround is the 3/4" thick stone turned on it's edge - it sits proud of the face by 3/4" - 2"
by the stone company. But I was concerned about the room appearance at night when you have walls of black windows and now a black fireplace wall. However I have gorgeous countertops similar to the verde butterfly within 15' of the FP that I don't want to compete with the FP so perhaps the honed black
