These systems are naturally suited to open corners, where sheets of glass are formed to create open corner windows. Thin lines of steel provide a minimal amount of framework, creating just a mere screen between inside and out.

really like the staircase and window idea
The dining room leads to the living room, where Cuppett used the stairway and a wood-framed window to bring light into the space from the second floor. The windows are actually wire glass, like those found in commercial stairwells. “You don’t notice it until you’re close, but it’s kind of fun,” Cuppett

Are the windows in this room original to the house? Who makes them?

The architects vaulted up the existing flat ceiling and added a glass door to let more light into the family room; they saved the existing steel-frame windows. Here the gray stone base of the fireplace can also act as a bench in front of the built-in shelves. Note how the shelves continue to the left, framing window and door openings.

Stationary pinch-pleated drapes. Pinch pleating stationary (non-functional) drapes create soft elegance on a large window. It frames the window without taking away from the view or light coming in. These cost less than functional drapes because you don't need as much fabric.

Many of the new ones have remote controls. I also wondered how you got the stone so close to the frame. It is hard to find a linear fireplace with such a thin frame.
