The base and top have stainless rods welded to metal plate which were inset into the wood rail and floor. Then hollow stainless tubes were slid onto these, assembled onsite.

yes, the nice thing about the MDF is it is forgiving like wood and can be worked so to get a nice finish. Sometimes the metal reveals are tricky to get straight, especially in existing conditions and can be pricey. we did not cut the gyp bd. just glued the tape up and over

Did you cut the GB at 45 as well to meet the MDF? was the same paint used for both GB and MDF resulting in continuous finish? Thanks!
