radiant heat, which is costly, but provides a level of comfort that you cannot get from forced air. Since this is next to the pool and to provide better heat conduction from the radiant heat, the flooring is tile that looks like wood rather than tile. Installed tile is about three times the cost of hardwood
radiant heat underneath which makes it even nicer.

The garage was extra long and was reduced in length to a standard size.
What you see in this photo is the back portion area of the old garage.
The sliding door in the remodeled area is by Eagle.

up to patio, patio material is the same as inside
Large open glass door from family room to patio
U-factor.Heat-absorbing tints. These come in colors such as blue, green, gray, bronze or black. Tint doesn't lower a window's U-factor, but inner glass layers or spectrally sensitive coatings can be added to help with that. Gray and bronze reduce heat and light; blue and green allow more visible transmittance
fills, heat-absorbing tints, insulated (double- or triple-glazed), low-E coatings, reflective coatings and spectrally selective coatings.Gas fills. The most common gasses used are argon, which is relatively less expensive, and krypton, which is more expensive but has a better ability at decreasing a window's
radient heat flooring - wall mounted air conditioner
garage: AFTER: There was no insulation in the garage, so radiant-heat flooring
That's the heating system above the credenza on the wall
Radiant heat floor and wall-mounted A/C added, since there was no insulation. Garage re-do.
radiant-heat flooring and a wall-mounted air conditioner were added. The retractable garage door was rendered inoperable.

The back wall of my garge faces the patio by my pool. It is glaring in the yammer heat and I'd like to soften it somehow.
considered heating elements, they will heat the room they are in through radiant heat (they are sealed).
is the Heat & Glo Soho: http://www.heatnglo.com/Products/Soho-Gas-Fireplace.aspx?page=Specifications
It's only 11 1/2" deep.
The Solaris is shallower at 5 1/2" deep, but it doesn't look much like a fireplace to me. But it is cool, no doubt: http://www.heatnglo.com/Products/Solaris-Gas-Fireplace.aspx
certainly can heat your home with a wood burning or pellet stove and Uncle Sam will give you a tax credit for purchasing one (as long as it meets certain requirements). Here is one of many links: http://www.harmanstoves.com/taxcredit/stimulus-tax-credit-stove.asp
Chopping your own wood is quite a fitness regimen
stove you heat your body twice, when you chop it AND when you burn it!
The downside of woodburning stoves is that you have enough room to store the wood in a dry place.

nice on a patio , maybe even on the part of the patio where I put the lap pool
idea of heating your home this way, or at least having the option!
solar heat gain in the winter.
Specific zoning, an efficient geothermal heating and cooling system, highly energy efficient glazing and an advanced building insulation system resulted in a structure that exceeded the requirements of the energy star rating system.
