New construction home with pre-sanded t&g pine on entire walls and ceilings. I have tried to research and see some articles indicating it should be sealed or varnished at the very least
would love to leave it as is. I do have a few black marks (possibly motar from stone work) any suggestions as to what I can use to remove those. Sanding creates a dull area so I'm searching for a product that will remove marks without comprising the area. THANK YOU!
of installing material UN-finished... and then shooting final color &/or finish without sanding... this leaves & accents the "mill marks"... which may go unnoticed by everyone but a woodworker, but CORRECT sanding makes huge difference in the final outcome... once again, in my opinion. Being SOFT woods

Did u have to sand floors? What type of Waterlox finish did u use?
Floors we r getting ready to put down r 100 yrs old and I really don't want to sand them (we r planing them now)!! Scared if I sand they will lose some character (love all the nail holes)
holes). Your floors still look awesome and have a lot of character AFTER they were sanded! Will mine still look like that??? Thanks so much!!!!!
us worried while we were laying it. It was really chewed up and a lot more beat up than the stuff we're used to. That said, as you can see, once we sanded and finished it with Waterlox finish it came out beautifully. (from Silver Maple Construction LLC)

He suggested filling the gabs with the sawdust that he has sanded, so that it will be the same wood filling the gabs. what do you think of all of this? I will try to post some pictures of the floor before sanding, and after just one sanding
I have just had my pine plank floor sanded, it's already beautiful!!! it will be sanded again tomorrow. The home, and floors are 130 years old, which means that they started growing probably 100 years before that
To make invisible repairs, you'll need to add in salvaged boards. This is labor intensive, and you'll need to source the wood. After repairs, you'll sand, but if glue or paint is built up on the floor, this could use up more sandpaper and time than it's worth.
